Conversations from the Back Seat

Overheard as I was driving the kids home from school yesterday:

Katie mumbles something I can’t hear.

Caleb (mad):  Hey!  Did you just say I’m kind of a weirdo?

Katie:  No!  I said, “Caleb, you’re kind of my hero.”

Caleb (unconvinced):  That’s not what it sounded like.  I heard you call me a weirdo.

Katie:  I promise I didn’t.  I wouldn’t do that.  Don’t be mad.

Caleb: Well…okay.

*pause*

Katie (affectionately): You weirdo.

Both dissolve into giggles.
