Mr. Middle Earth, the Reprise

Standard

I don’t have time for a long, thoughtful blog post tonight, as my sister has come over and we’re working our way through the Lord of the Rings movies. Again.

For my thoughts on that, you can go to this previous post and weigh in on a very important psychological debate which is still hotly raging. I’d love to hear your thoughts.

  1. I hope our friendship can continue after I admit I am not a LOTR fan. So sorry. I did try. Well, not the movies, I’ll admit I haven’t seen a one, but years and a lifetime ago I tried to read the books, but just couldn’t, wouldn’t and so there it is. I’m just not.

My guess is that LM would be, but with his mother already trying to be Star Wars savvy, I can’t do both.

  2. Thank you for validating my love for Aragorn. 🙂 Whew…who in the world would like Legolas? Sound out his name….lego-las….a Lass who likes Legos? 🙂

  3. Thanks for the psych evaluation in the previous LOTR post. I hadn’t read it before and totally agree. I am all for Aragorn. (But you know how I appreciate manly men!) 🙂

  4. Legolas is noble and brave and strong, sure, but I’ll take Aragorn any day of the week. Seriously, I think I’d rather get with Gandalf than Legolas.

And can I crash the LOTR party? I’ll bring the lembas bread.

  5. I happen to love both. SO.MUCH.

Aragorn: rugged, free-spirit, deadly hot. This appeals to me on SO many levels. But, really only at the “primal” level, if you know what I mean.

Legolas: O.M.G. I get the feeling that I could talk to him for HOURS. There is something to be said for making love with the mind. Intelligence is a huge turn-on for me. And he’s hot. Double bonus!

And also? Rugged sweat=hot. It’s usually confined to dripping from the face and armpits. Basketball sweat=ew. I used to date a basketball player. It seemed as if every pore was leaking his skin was pale and clammy. EWWW!!! Just not for me. Blech.

  6. Have you discovered the BETA version of The Lord of the Rings online? Michael said it’s not quite on par with WOW, but it’s very close – and FREE for now! So, if you ever find a free moment and decide you want to check it out, let me know. I’ll find out where you go on the web to get it 🙂

Personally, we LOVE the LOTR trilogy, but we own the special collector’s edition with the extra hours of footage. Just when you think you’re nearing the end, the DVD player will pop up a menu item telling you to insert disc 2 – for all 3 movies! Anyway, that’s something we save for really, really long weekends and nights that don’t matter – we don’t have to get up early the next day 🙂

    Hope your enjoying them again!

  7. I’m so glad that you reposted this because I did not get to respond last time. I’ve been contemplating your psychoanalysis of leading man preference, and I’ve decided that I just must be shallow. The fact of the matter is that Legolas is just extremely easy on the eyes. For example, I find Brad Pitt more stunningly handsome in A River Runs Through It than in Legends of the Fall. I know many people would debate that one. Also, I hate to admit that I am greatly influenced by hair color. If you think that you are not, consider my list of preferences.
    Beau over Luke
    John over Ponch
    Owen over Luke
    Hutch over Starsky
    Freddy over Shaggy
    etc.

Anyway, I married my blonde-haired, blue-eyed high school sweetheart who is also a very manly man, so you can have both I guess.

  8. I see what you’re saying, Marci, although I come down on the other side of each of those comparisons (except for Owen vs. Luke–for sure the crooked-nosed funny brother for me!)

So I guess I mostly like brunettes. Good thing, too. When Paul has hair, it’s brown.
